Genesis Chapter 8 records the end of the great flood and the beginning of new life on the earth.
God remembers Noah. The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens are closed. The waters gradually recede. The ark comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah sends out a raven, then a dove. The dove returns with a freshly plucked olive leaf, and later does not return. God commands Noah to leave the ark with his family and every living creature. Noah builds an altar and offers burnt offerings. The Lord smells the pleasing aroma and promises never again to curse the ground because of man or to destroy all living creatures with a flood. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease.
